WinCC SP4 HF2 and SIMATIC Logon (bug?)

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, Still testing with WinCC SP4 +HF2. On my start picture I have implemented a button containing the following c-script behind the mouse action: { SIMATICLogon('1'); } On start of my project the simatic logon window will pop-up without clicking on the button (strange, but no problem cause you should logon at startup). My problem resides in the following: Whenever I want to change user, or just want to log out, I go back to (or stay on) my start picture and press the button containing the script, but NOTHING happens. If I implement two printf statements (one before and one behind the SIMATICLogon call) they are printed both to screen. Everything was working oke on WinCC SP2 + HF5. Anyone else seen this behaviour or have a solution? With Regards.

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi Ikkezelf, well, I am coming from the PCS7-system and there you can start simatic logon via WinCC > user administrator > check option "Simatic logon" Then in your WinCC > computer > properties > register "startup" you will find the service wincclogonconnector.exe. Please don´t forget to run OS-Projecteditor. regards, Nemo

I do not know why I should use the OS-projecteditor, cause I have always managed without it The project is made without the use of the os-projecteditor cause it creates a lot of pictures and tags that we do not need in this project. But not to judge before you try something [:D] I used the OS-projecteditor. Sorry to tell you, but the only thing it succeeded in was creating a lot of tags and pictures... Simatic Logon still behavious the same. I find it very strange that it works on startup of runtime, but not later on during runtime. Oh yeah I use SIMATIC Logon V1.2 SP1 ( I read somewhere that also V1.3 is on the market as of yesterday). any other suggestions?

After this you also have to follow the following to be sure it's all working correctly (else you will get the old simatic login window): Adapting the "SIMATIC Logon" Setting in the User Administration If you have migrated a project from a WinCC version before V6.0 SP3, in which SIMATIC Logon was used, you have to check the setting "with/without SIMATIC Logon" in the User Administrator and adapt it as required.

What if your logonserver is not there? Or is your logonserver also your WinCC server? I tested the SIMATIC-Logon functionality on a network and disconnected the logonserver (domainserver). I could not log on anymore.....[:cry:]. So I will not use it because of this reason. Any reason to use it? Jaap

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi Jaapie, The reason(s) for me to use it: - One central spot to create/manage all my users throughout the entire wincc environment. If not, I would need to update every client pc whenever there isnew user/change in user. - Users are now created with windows security (logon/off, password change, lockout user, event logging, etc...) - Users have just one username and password which they can use throughout wincc and all other systems (even when they change the password for one environment, they are changed throughout the entire workenvironment. - Automatic logout after inactivity. and probably there are much more reason, that I can't think of right now. Following possibilities: 1. When using a domain concept instead of a workgroup, you will always be able to login because theuser information is replicated between the domain-controllers. 2. In a workgroup you can choose to login on the local computer instead of the configured logon server. In case the logon server is down you can login with the credentials of a local windows user. If this user's group is not configured in WinCC User Administrator he is logged in as member of the Emergency_Operator group. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21979623
