WinCC Tag Types

Hal Limmer Experienced Member Joined: 4/17/2007 Last visit: 7/26/2024 Posts: 47 Rating: (1)	Tag Types in WinCC, I'm using PCS7 V7.0 WinCC V6.2.0.2 I have a FB in my project that has a variable of type string[32] and I can't read it in a text box in WinCC, it comes into WinCC tag database as Text tag 8-bit character set. Should it be a different tag type? I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks for your help in advance. hjl

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, The difference between the 8-bit and the 16-bit text types are the characters they support... and also, off course, the memory allocation they take... You've checked the length in WinCC, and the I/O Field's configuration, right? What do you get when you configure an I/O Field to display that string? Best regards, Danielle

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, Just for a test... with the I/O field you'll know if the data is ok... you must configure the "Data Type" property... If the tag is properly configured, you can display it in a static text with no problems, just by making the "Text" property dynamic. Best regards, Danielle

I did a read back on the controller and it wrote the 100 into the field I was *suppose* to be putting the text in... Thanks for your help! hjl
