WinCC tag update

Jeebs Posts: 218 Rating: (28)	Hey, I'm new to WinCC and I have a question The setup is WinCC V6.0 server (soon to be updated), 2 OPC servers (3rd party software), 2 S7-400 PLC's. All connected through ethernet. Communication is no problem. WinCC is currently used as 'gateway' between the OPC-servers and the PLC's. OPC has counters, signals of the machine its on. Those counters signal need to be tranferred to the PLC. This PLC monitors the production line. Currently we have no problem, since the tags that need transferring are all on 1 screen. (small sideproject atm) But now it is expanding and we need to use multiple screens(pictures). In WinCC flex you can configure a tag that: Upon change, write current value into other tag. In WinCC I only found this option on I/O fields. When I leave the picture with the I/O-fields they stop updating (stop transferring data from one tag to another) What options do I have to let this be done continously? Not depending on which screen I am currently in? (Trigger of 5-10s) thnx Jeebs

Program the script to transfer the tags for you. Another way to ensure tags are always polled is to configure them in the TagLogging Editor. This will record historical changes to the tag and also ensure that WinCC is always polling the tag value. Salma

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Jeebs, As you noticed, if you place the script within an object it will indeed only run whan that script runs, and it will only run when the screen is open. I agree with Salma on the fact that you should write a global script which would transfer all the tags. Tag Logging will ensure that WinCC is polling the tags, but if you're talking about several tags remember that archiving also has a license, based on the amount of tags. Best regards, Danielle

Jeebs Posts: 218 Rating: (28)	First of all, it works now.[:D] I have used the Global scripting. (very new to scripting) Read the help files on VBS, and finally found my way to the examples. One of them was similar to what I had tried, but I forgot small details: tag.read and tag.write [:blush:] Thnx for pointing me in the correct direction. Jeebs
