WinCC (TIA Portal) V13 SP1 HMI Connections

Hi all,

I have a setup with 12 S7-1200 PLCs (CPU1215 DC/DC/DC) all connected to a PC with WinCC RT Advanced V13 SP1 running on Windows 7 Professional. In TIA I have set up 12 HMI connections, one for each PLC, none of them shows any problems in the configuration. My project compiles just fine. Still, when I physically connect all of them, two of my PLC will not display any process values, just #### as if the PLC is not connected to the network. If I disconnect any two PLC from the Ethernet switch, all the others are on-line and visible in WinCC RT. It looks as if the maximum number of online HMI connections at a time is 10. But I'm not sure about this, and all I could find about it is this:

Now what exactly does connection based on "SIMATIC HMI HTTP" mean?

the SIMATIC HMI HTTP Connection is a Communication protocol.

The SIMATIC HMI HTTP protocol is a constituent part of the Sm@rtAccess option.
The SIMATIC HMI HTTP protocol is used for the data exchange between HMI devices. It is used in the following cases:
● PCs with WinCC flexible Runtime and Panels from the 177 series should exchange tags with each other via existing LANs (Sm@rtAccess).
● The transfer should take place using a firewall server.
The SIMATIC HMI HTTP protocol is not suitable for exchanging mass data. Data exchange occurs according to the Request-Response method. The HTTP client sends his request to the HTTP server which processes it and returns his response. A device can be configured as an HTTP client and HTTP server simultaneously. The client and server establish a connection via the Ethernet interface for data exchange.

Thanks CristophD, so this doesn't count for my problem.

That leaves me with the option:

which is still strange, because TIA will let me configure 12 HMI connections, and RT certainly handles 10 active connections at a time. But why not 12?

Hi,

i know the limitation to 10 parallel Ethernet Connections from Step7.
You can extend this with the installation of Simatic Net.

Her a newer driver for the Ethernet communication for SIMATIC Products are installed and can handle more then 10 connections.
