WinCC to TIA Migration Errors

rodwantc Regular Member Joined: 2/19/2019 Last visit: 8/1/2023 Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I'm trying to migrate the HMI portion of a project from Step 7 v5.6/WinCC 2008 SP5 to TIA Portal v15.1. For migration purposes I used the "Copy from Step 7" function in WinCC to save a copy of the HMI project separately from the PLC project in Step 7. This is the file I'm trying to migrate. (The logic is staying in Step 7) The HMI is configured as an MP377 15" Touch which I know cannot be directly migrated to TIA v15 so right now I'm trying to migrate it to either TIA v13 or v14. No matter what route I try the migration always fails. TIA v13 says "Error during migration" - Summary: "The source project is corrupt. Contact your local Siemens Support." TIA v14 just gives me "An error occurred during the migration." The v13 and v14 standalone migration tools give me "Failed to migrate source project" - Summary: "Could not connect to project database. Try to open the project with installed WinCC flexible 2008 SP2, SP3, or SP5. Then repeat the migration." The project opens in WinCC and compiles without errors... Any assistance would be appreciated.

Migration of a WinCC flexible project integrated in STEP 7 V5.x to WinCC (TIA Portal) and upgrading of the operator panel version after a change of the WinCC (TIA Portal) version to a newer version.

SIMATIC STEP 7 including PLCSIM V13 SP2 TRIAL Download If this doesn't work, maybe you can ask Siemens Technical Support. I believe there are cases in which they offer migration processes.

What firmware is configured in the original project? What is the lowest TIA Portal version supporting the MP377? What's the highest Portal version supporting the MP377? What firmware versions are supported by each version? It might simply be your portal version needs a HSP to support a different firmware level. I know on an MP we have been using for 10 years, we had to STOP at Portal v15.1, because that was the highest portal version supporting the highest available firmware for the MP. For the original firmware, I think we used V13 SP2. I don't recall whether we had to install an HSP to support a different firmware level. There may a FAQ or other migration documentation specific to MPs and migrating to specific portal versions, with a table with MP###, firmware, compatible portal version. I think I had to find and use a compatibility guide for the MPs to know v15.1 was as high as we could go with our MPs. rodwantc After updating TIA v13 and WinCC v13 to SP2 I still get the same result "Error during migration".
