Shamsher Posts: 102 Rating: (3)	Hai All, As usual again a SMS call [:cry:] I have installed WinCC V 5.1 SP2 on my field PG. Whenever I start WinCC I get a message "error 0X80080005:Server execution failed"[:o] Someone SAVE MY SOUL[:blush:]

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Sorry Shamsher, I did not realise you had seen the other post [:blush:] I myself have no other suggestion other than going through a list of questions like has it ever worked if so what has changed does it work on another machine can you create a new project successfully what errors are in the Diagnose directory has the project been copied from a CD etc. etc. etc. However I would personally recommend that you log a case with Technical Support instead as that is what they are trained to do. Hopefully, someone else who has seen this problem will post there solution on this forum too.

Other than that I also have tried reinstalling the windows service pack, Reinstall Win2000 but all to no effect. Can you suggest me wheather WinCC if installed on WinXP works properly so that I will tonight try installing the same on WinXP Regards Shamsher

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Unfortunately WinCC V5.x is not supported with XP. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1139080 What are the exact versions of Windows and WinCC you have (including SPs and hotfixes)? I could be wrong but it sounds like a problem with your project and not the WinCC installation. Can you sucessfully create a new project? If so then this proves that the fault lies with the project somewhere.

Anyways rather than fighting on with the system what I did was to format my system and reload the OS as well as the WinCC. Now its running. Another problem that I am facing id that the projects that I had taken backups of on CD's when I try to run on my PG, I get a warning that the projects doesnot exist and the theproject is closed. The projects on CD's are on write protected media which on transferring to the local media on PC I convert to writable through Properties---- Read Only. Regards Shamsher

Freddy Experienced Member Joined: 9/13/2005 Last visit: 11/18/2019 Posts: 86 Rating: (10)	Hello Shamsher, the Problem with the project not found after getting it back from CD sounds like you have simply copied the whole project folder to CD instead of a ZIP backup of project-folder? Can this be the problem? Simply copying the files to CD and copy them back to a different storage location does not work because there might be absolute pathes stored in the project

Shamsher Posts: 102 Rating: (3)	Hai Salma, The message that I was getting was "error 0X80080005:Server execution failed" I don't know exactly but what I feel is that it had some thing to do with the SQL server or some other Widows 2000 component as I again used the same installer for the WinCC but a new copy of Win2K for the OS Regards Shamsher
