Peter Posts: 83 Rating: (8)	Hallo... We just received WinCC update package containing WinCC v6.2 Question: is WinCC v6.2 backward compatible to WinCC v6.0 SP4 ? I have tried to search on FAQ, Siemens product support but no information. Maybe someone knows abaout this matter. Thanks, Peter

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi, what do you mean with backward compatible in detail??? A project once engineered with V6.2 CANNOT be used with prior WinCC version for engineering issues => if you want to continue your engineering at a different PC, this PC must have version 6.2 as well nemo

Peter Posts: 83 Rating: (8)	Hi Nemo, Thanks for a quick reply. Na toll... That mean for us we have to have another PC or seperate boot system for each WinCC version. Now we have already 2, i.e. WinCC v6.0 SP3 and v6.0 SP4. Why do we keep SP3? To make client support for project which are still under warranty. Life would be boring without surprise, right? [:D] Anyway anyhow... cease the day. cheers, Peter

To help a little what I do is always try to keep my customer's programs updated, so whenever Siemens releases a free upgrade I request it for them. That ensures less bugs and less versions to deal with! [:P]

We use VMware fore many software types, both for testing and engineering, also for WinCC and Step 7 and we never seen a problems whit this solution. In some cases the software runs better in VMware whit the right operations system (DOS app.) instead whit Windows XP and the compatibility mode. What problems did you see Mr. ‘Nemo’.
