WinCC V6 Alarm Logging Synchronize for Redundant Servers

Wacky Posts: 60 Rating: (2)	I have a alarm logging synchronize problem for a set of two redundant WinCC servers. The servers are work with redundant function, which means the WinCC client can be access to duty server after one of the server fail. After the failed server returns, the alarm logging seems cannot be synchronize. I suppose I can read the missed alarm logging(occurred when server failed period) at failed server, but I cannot find that. FYI, I did not set up any user archive. I did not connect the two servers with serial cable and I set "None" in "Serial connection to redundant partner" of redundancy configuation. Is it possible to sync. without serial cable connection? I read the manual which said the serial cable is used for status of redundancy , not synchronize the archive. What is the mean of "Online synchronization of Alarm Logging" in redundancy configuration? What does it mean after I ticked it?

Wacky Posts: 60 Rating: (2)	Is it the serial cable needs cross cable to connect the two server? ok, i try to get the log and upload here tomorrow. But, What is the mean of "Online synchronization of Alarm Logging" in redundancy configuration?

Second, please attach your WinCC log files from folder ..\wincc\diagnose, perhaps there some entries in the log files. nemo I have uploaded the diagnose for two servers. The front part of some logs at server-a shows the name "server-b" because I assigned server-a with computer name "server-b" before. It can be ignored. PaulLiddy Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	I am also experiencing the same problem using v6.2 SP2 with HF3 on Dell Servers running Server 2003 R2 SP2. I was also advised by tech support to try the serial connection which unsurprisingly did not sort out the problem. The diagnose log file indicated a "Synchronisation begin" followed by an "End of synchronisation" so the logs appear to show that some attempt is being made by the system to synchronise, there are no error messages in the log however. I have also checked the SQL Server activity logs and there are no errors there either. If you find anything please let me know.

How are the redundancy option set in WinCC on the serverproject ? How are the "Alarm control" configured in the picture ? How are the "Server Data" configured on the multiclient ? It will work, my servers are 2km apart and no sync.problem at all. (WinCC 6.2 sp2)

I set the following parameters> Server> SRV1 Redundant partner server> SRV2 Connection to redundant partner via network adapter> the name of network adapter Connection to redundant partner via serial interface> None Synchronization of alarm logging after the partner server comes back online>True After you configure the first server I recommend the duplicate project into second server using the "Project Duplicator"
