WinCC wrong Networkcard

VGD Posts: 28 Rating: (3)	I've had some problems in a WinCC 6.0 server - client project. Problem solved, but still a question. Situation:It's a existing project that worked fine, until the network card in the client PC died. We replaced it with a new one. After that the client didn’t startup. The WinCC message is: Could not find Start picture. When I press OK at this message, I get a selection box with the available PDL’s. I can select a picture, but runtime will not start. I’ve tested the following: I can ping the ip-adres and pc name (from client and from server). I can open the WinCC server projectmap on the client in the Windows Explorer. The Client PC has 2 network cards. One to connect to the Server and one to connect to the office network. I think that WinCC tries to connect to the Server with the Office network card (different IP address and different IP range). When I disable the Office network card and restart the pc, the Client works (but no connection to office network).After this I enabled the Office network card and restart the pc. After this the Client works and I have connection to the office network. My questions: How does WinCC know witch network card to use? Is this a configuration setting, that I can make? Has anyone else these problems? Thanks for reading, Freddy

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Seems to me your problem is because the binding order got changed. You can adjust this as follows: Go to Network Connections from Control Panel. Then Advanced Settings and Adapters and Bindings tab. Also, you should try pinging using the computer name and not the IP address. TheIP address shown (after the ping) should be from the terminal bus network card and not the officeLAN network card. You may need to adjust the hosts and lmhosts file. VGD Posts: 28 Rating: (3)	Thanks for the reactions. When I am at location, I will make these settings. I’ve also made these settings on my own laptop. This doesn’t work on my laptor. I have a WinCC project that works fine when I start runtime (with the Wireless network card disabled). When I enable the Wireless network card, WinCC can not find the start picture in Runtime. When I (single) click on Graphic Designer in the WinCC explorer, the right window doesn’t show any pictures (no objects exist). When I ping pcname it shows the ip address of the normal networkcard (witch has to connect to a plc). In the Simatic shell, the right networkcard is selected and the advanced network setting are also correct (first normal network card, second wireless). Has this something to do with the hosts and lmhosts file?

Since in your case when you ping the computer name, the correct IP address is shown, the host files are not the problem. When you enable the wireless network, can you see the shares properly?

VGD Posts: 28 Rating: (3)	When I don’t use the Wireless, the WinCC project map has a share name. When I use the Wireless the share disappears. If I disable the Wireless, the share name returns automatically. This could be the problem….. I don’t know how to fix this.

Ifa wrong network adapter is selected in simatic shell wincc can not findthe startpicture at startup of the runtime. In this case wincc ask you to choose a startpicture. If the server package is loaded on the client you can choose a start picture of the server. But the runtime will not be loaded because thewincc client can not find the startpicture by using the wrong network adapter! (wrong network adapter in simatic shell).
