WinLC RTX 2008 & VMWARE 6.5 - reponse time exceedingly long

Kortex Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hi, I'm tryingtouse aWinLC RTX 2008 on a VMWare 6.5 Virtual Machine running Windows XP Pro SP2 but I encounter performance problems. I noticed thatduring I start RTX services in RTX Properties theOS clockbecomevery slow (1s pass in 10s approximately). It carry bad reponse time communication between my WinCC application (on a secondcomputer) and the WinLC. I'm using VMWare because i have to emulate several Simatic S7-400 on the same computer. I've reinstated another WinLC version (Basis 4.1) and it work very well. I don't understound why with RTX 2008 version it doesn't work. Is anyone have the same problem? Is the RTX properties have a wrong setting? TomDeWou Platinum Expert Joined: 11/15/2006 Last visit: 5/7/2021 Posts: 1319 Rating: (168)	WinAC RTX is not created for use in virtual machines as - with underlying realtime kernel - you do not have full realtime capatibility. Why the clock does run slower I do not know, but as a fact the start of the services does need some system performance and who tells that a virtual machine does run as a normal machine does, regarding the system clock? There are so many possible influences on vm behaviour which might cause such a problem.. EDIT: WinAC Basis does not have a realtime kernel - so it is just a windows application. And maybe other influences have dissappeared, too..!?

Kortex Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Thank. I know that this effect result of a problem with RTX component but how can i emulate several S7 program on the same machine otherwise? The use of WinAC Basis v4.1 appears as agood solution (no realtime is required for my application) but i can't acquire licence because this product isn't released today. Is there any technical solution in Siemens Catalog to simulate several programs?
