There is a WinCC Scada(WinCC V7.0SP2)PC in Control roomand customer wants toview the data of that SCADA PCsitting in his office through LANNetwork. So i suggested him to go for Web nevigator Application. Now you all must be thinking that where is the Wireless Communication part????? Actually as of now SCADA PC in control room is isolated from LAN Network. The controlroom isaround 100m away from LAN Switch& looking at the site condition it is not possible to layEthernet cable or fiber optic cable. So that i want to hook up that PC on thier LAN Netwrok throughour WLAN(Access Point & Client Module). Is it possible??? if yes then,can any body suggest me Bill of Materials for WLAN Devices???? or at least MLFB for WLAN Access Point & Client Module. Thanks in advanced.

INS Gold Member Joined: 4/6/2006 Last visit: 2/5/2024 Posts: 604 Rating: (56)	Hi Amit, So I'm not an expert in WinCC topics but I think I can help you with Wireless LAN. 100 meter inside is a little bit difficult to cover with only one AP. There for I would advice to use a Dual Access Point in the middle of these 100 meters. Then you need to cover only half the distance which can still be difficult depening on what is located in the environment. Normally 50 meter could be possible with 'normal' attached antennas but I'm not 100% sure. There for I suggest the following: Client >>> <<< Dual AP >>> <<< Client 1 Scalance W788-2PRO (Dual AP)MLFB:6GK5788-2AA60-2AA0 2 Scalance W746-1 IP30 (IP30 Client with small housing)MLFB:6GK5746-1AA30-4AA0 4 Antennas ANT793-6MN (Omni Directional 5 GHz)MLFB:6GK5793-6MN00-0AA6 4 Antenna Cables R-SMA/N-Connect 1 m.MLFB:6XV1875-5CH10 All equipment can be powered by POE or 24VDC. If you think that the surroundings are not optimal you could consider using directed antennes. Be aware that using directed antennas indoor is something which could make the wireless connection even worse. But I just wanted to tell you the possibility, these antennas could be the ANT795-6DN MLFB:6GK5795-6DN00-0AA6 Success with your application!

Today i went to customer place for site survey and following are my observation. The Line of sight distance between Control room Scada PC & LAN Network Switch is just 30m but looking at the site condition(Heay machinary Placed & lots of mechenical stuff) it is not possible to lay ethernet cable/fiber optic cable(Wire brake chances). i have tohook up one PC on LAN Network thorugh Wirelss LAN. So as you said it is possible.Am i right???? one Access Point(with integrated Antenna)& Client Module(with integrated Antenna) will work? So Can you please suggest me BOM for this??? Thanks in advanced.

If the 30 meter is a line of sigh I would suggest using the following: Scalance W788-1PRO: 6GK5788-1AA60-2AA0 Scalance W746-1PRO: 6GK5746-1AA60-4AA0 The attached antennes are delevired with the components. The order numbers are for rest of the world devices. for use in the USA you need different order numbers. The Power Supply is either 24 VDC over an M12 Plug or use PoE. I hope this information fits your needs.

ion Posts: 8 Rating: (2)	Hello Amit, The problem is not so simple as it seems to be... Why?: If you try to use Webnavigator you have to redesignall the HMIscreens with associated Tags. A better solution is to keep the actual screens on WinCC and to use Simatic Net OPC Server to relink all the Tags from your applications from the Network. As a rule, if you use directional antennas,a distance of 30m it's not a problem. For BOM go to https://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/industrial-communication/en/support/catalog/Pages/catalog.aspx?HTTPS=REDIR, download the catalogue and try to find what INS indicated but there are a lot of accesories...(Cables, C-Plug, Antennas...) which you have to choose for.. You also have to keep in mind that if you try to use the HMI screens for issuing commands in yourreal applications on the network, the time become critical. Good luck....
