WLAN Client and PLC Communication on profinet

CPU 315F-2PN/DP and SCALANCE-W747-1RR-1(WLAN Client) are on profinet, I have to recieve data and write to DBxx and send data by DBxx to SCALANCE-W747. Please help me regarding configuration and programming.

jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, The W747-1 is a wirelles client, and needs to be connected wireless to an access point. A scalance W788 could such a device (but there are several models in catalog). The minimum required settings is that the access point adn the client share the same frequency band, same network ID (SSID) and same security settings (authentication method and encryption). Once the wireless link has been established (configuration is done web-based on the scalance W devices), the wireless link is transparent. You can access the CPU just as if you would be connected directly on the CPU. On the CD delivered with the scalance W devices, there is a small software called PST (primary setup tool) that allows to give an IP address to them (so that you can administer them web based). If you have STEP7, or the Portal, you can assign an IP with these softwares also (edit ethernet node or online functions).

It is even not required to have the W747-1 in the step7 project. If you do it (like you did) it is only to have a better diagnostic, but it has nothing to do with the communication with other partners. The IP address given to the client is only needed for web based management of the client. The wireless link is transparent, which means that you just write the communication with the partner as if there was no wireless at all. Important is to configure web-based the wireless connection between the client and an Access Point (AP). This is the typical setup CPU - Client W747 <==wireless link ==> AP <-- fixed network-- > - partner system What access point is used in this configuration? What is the partner system to which the CPU should send data?
