Work memmory full, S7-314C-2ptp, What can I do?

Customer asking to activate the Modbus TCP Communication with there DCS since they already have CP-343-1 lean, i purchased the license() and try to install it on the PLC. Problems that i am facing...... 1. Work memmory with PLC is 96kb, existing program work memmory 91kb 2. work memmory for the add on blocks for Modbus TCP is 35kb so what happning is when i tried to add these blocks SIMATIC manager says Work memmory full want to compress ? i pressed YES => message pop up says =>unable to download SIMATIC manager fail to add all the blocks because there is not enough work memmory What i suppose to do now ? do i need to buy new CPU with highr capacity of work memmory ? say S7-315-2DP for example Note:- I can't change the existng program becouse it was not done by me and customer won't agree Shafeek

Amol V Experienced Member Joined: 9/21/2013 Last visit: 6/17/2024 Posts: 66 Rating: (1)	Hi Shafee There is no other option rather than changing the cpu but as you mentioned S7-314c-2ptp then you have to check that is there any serial interfaces are connected to plc or not?If there are serial devices connected then you have purchase the cpu of same functionality of already existing cpu or you have purchase the seperate module & need to program it according to requirement & if you purchase the cpu with same functionality then you have to just copy paste program.

Shafee Regular Member Joined: 7/28/2013 Last visit: 10/2/2024 Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hello Amol, Thank you for the replay, There is only one HMI with MPI connection in network Now what im looking for a solution that doesnt involve changing PLC Conclsion that i found is something like this, replay me if u have any suggestion 1. Insert a new CPU S7-315 2DP with higher capacity work memory by keeping the existing PLC 2. New user program will be in New CPU 3. By using MPI connection establish communication between Old CPU(S7-314C-2PTP) and new CPU(S7-315 2DP) 4. Old CPU work as interfacing module ,like sending the Input staus to new CPU and Reciving Output command from new CPU 5. TCP modbus program also in OLD CPU since CP-343 is that netwok Will it work , ? Shafeek

According to this: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=6AG13146BH047AB0&caller=view 6AG1314-6BH04-7AB0 S7-300 CPU314C-2 PTP has 192kB work memory. Maybe you could just upgarde to it. BR

Amol V Experienced Member Joined: 9/21/2013 Last visit: 6/17/2024 Posts: 66 Rating: (1)	I agree with Kahl may be you can use6ES7 314-6BH04-0AB0 mlfb's cpu of 314c-2 ptp then you can only copy paste the program from old cpu & write the modbus program in same cpu because it is having work memory of 192KB.And main thing that as much as you use work memory your cycle time gets increased & in your old cpu it is using 91% so it's better to get switched to new cpu for future expansion also.
