What's the difference between working memory and load memory? 2. in a PCS 7 project, before ordering, how tocalculate the size for working memory and load memory, and then to order a suitable CPU? 3.For example, what's the working and load memory requirement for a PID loop? Denilson Pegaia Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 10/4/2024 Posts: 4349 Rating: (1446)	Hi, A good first approximation to work memory and load memory is compare to a PC: Work memory of a PLC is like a RAM of a PC; load memory of a PLC is like a HD of a PC. Detailed information can be found in FAQs: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/7302549 and http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/7302326 You can find the size of Work and Load memory of your project in the properties of tab “Block” of your project (in Simatic Manager). In same way the size of a block can be found in your properties.

debon Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Hello,Pegaia Thanks for your help, which is so useful.[:)] I found a tool for calculating the memory requirement of a project from A&D. It adds memory needed by every loop to get the whole memory requirement. For example it said a PID needs about 1.7kb memory, and so on. Itested for this and found the memory of a PCS7 PID loop issmall than0.5kb.So i am puzzled for this. [:(] I am also puzzled with its formula. is it ok to just add memory needed by every loop to get the whole memory size the system needs?[:(] I want to know, with your experience in programing, how do you calculate the memory requirement in a project? BTW, how dou think about the memory size of S7 414-4H? Now it,s 1.4 Mb increased from 0.7 Mb. It's still too small I think![:P]
