HansJ Posts: 32 Rating: (1)	Hi One DoubleWord In (PID) And One Doubleword Ut (PQD) Ex PID 700 PQD 700 Mesuringlenght on the sensor 500mm If i like to preseta value Ex. 200mm to the sensor. i supose there are a bit to set for this for the sensor to reseve a valaue? How to scale the Value from the sensor for use in PLC in milimeter. Is the mesurevalue from the sensor PIB 701 and PIB 702 in PID-area? MTS R-Serie P102 Profibus DP single Magnet Sensor outputs: - Absolute position measurement - Speed measurement - Sensor status - Error detection (e.g. magnet status) Selectable parameters: - Offset/Preset for each magnet - Measuring direction: Forward/reverse - Resolution - Different data formats Data exchange With Multi-Magnet measurement, 1 status byte and 3 bytes of position data foreach position are transmitted. The status byte contains e.g. the error bit and the position number of the following measurement value. Dependent on sensor parameters setting, the position data can be transfered to the control unit in different formats (e.g. INTEL or MOTOROLA format). So the data can be read from the 3 bytes for the position and the first byte have the status... Accessory: MTS Servicetool Profibus Address-Programmer is used for setup sensor's slave address. Normally addressing is done by Profibus SetSlaveAddress. Since some master systems do not support this standard, or customers controller can not handle, this tool - connected to the sensor - can be used for direct addressing. Can be done from STEP7 in the hardware configuration

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I've used these in the past. It's been 5 years ago now. But if I can remember right, in the HW-config you can setup the scaling off the measuring. So in the PLC there's no scaling to be done. The only thing to do is to put the bytes in the write order. Allso when using multiple magnets take care off the status byte. If you lose one magnet during opperation, the magnet postiones can be changed.

And what about Preset value if you want to preset a kalibrationvalue on a specific hight on the position sensor. Is'it bit 2 in the lower byte?. Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I've used them for a previous boss. I don't have any software code. But if you look in the HW-config you see the line data format. You have selected: Byte 0 == status Byte 1 == Low byte Byte 2 == Midle byte Byte 3 == High byte With Siemens there is a byteswap (very nice) and you should lose the satus byte. L PIB 261 T MB 202 L PIB 262 T MB 203 L PIB 263 T MB 200 L 0 T MB 201 The magnet position now stands in MD 200 as an LONG Allso check if you are recieving a lenth off '0' this isn't possible during normal production. With presetting measuring values I don't have any experiance. We normaly did this in the PLC software
