WP231 Load Cell correct configuration

I have the next doubt with a configuration of the WP231 module, i havea load cell with the next characteristics: four wires,Range 0-100 N (Newtons), the output is 1mv/V, but my problem is that the configuration in siwatool is not clearly, i put a load and it has a lot of difference when i put it again and again, and the zero is not automatic i always have a measure without load. It suppose that the parameters are referenced to kilograms so i put 10.2Kg the Nominal load cell cause is up to 100N, i connect four wires as a six wires i attached the wiring diagram. And also i attached the Final calibration of the load cell. With this calibration can i configure directly the wp231 to get the output in Newtons cause i have the calibration as 100Newtons = 3.775 mVdc = 3.815 Normalized Data Or is only with kilograms? Can you help me with your opinion about configuring this load cell Thanks a lot Attachment WP231 CONFIG.zip (306 Downloads)

0_Einstein Diamond Member Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 9/21/2023 Posts: 13714 Rating: (2240)	On the wiring diagram there is no reference to the voltage provided in the excitation in the drawing. Is it 5VDC? Is this configurable? If so, was it configured before the load cell was installed and wired to the proper excitation? As for reading the value, is this likewise configurable, or does the plc logic need to scale it to user units (0.0-100.0N) based on value of the input?

ABenno Posts: 206 Rating: (22)	Hi, the “quick guide” that Huggy recommended is a good idea to start with.The wiring you did is OK. In DR3, as you see on page 6 of the “quick guide”, you can set the “weight unit” to N(ewton) and calibrate the WP231 with force instead of weight. The calibration you can do with weight (force) or theoretical (automatic), see chapter 6 of the “quick guide”. If you do the automatic calibration you can use the data from the calibration sheet. You have to calculate as follow output (mV) / excitation (V) (@nominal load), in your case 3.775mV / 5V = 0.775mV/V. This you have to input as “Gain load cell” in DR10.If you have different outputs of the load cell with applying the same load, then you have a mechanical problem. With the load cell you use it is quite difficult to apply a weight to it, it is not made to be used as single point load cell.Regards ABenno
