Hi, I have some instruments sited in 3 separate areas which are around 10m apart. As they are high-voltage zones, cables passing through the boundaries should be fibre-optic. Each of those instruments got a relay output that can be configured to produce an alarm. If any of the inputs triggered an alarm, I need to operate a contactor sited in the first area. According to my understanding, I am thinking of having a S7 1200 fail safe PLC in each area connected with the relay outputs from the instruments. Then daisy chain the PROFINET ports of the 3 PLCs using fibre optic cables via a media converter. Each PLC in area 2 & 3 monitors the relay contacts of the instruments and issues a signal over PROFINET for the PLC in area 1 to be seen. It then operates the contactor if an alarm was triggered. Could someone please confirm my intended use of S7 1200F is ok? Am I breaching the safety integrity by using a signal over PROFINET from one PLC to the other? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
