Raplacing S7-300 CPU with older version

Is it possible to replace this CPU using S7-300 CPU V2.1.3 (317-2AJ10-0AB0) and plug&play MMC card? I know it can be replaced by the same or successor CPU but what about older version? Only put Memory Card in the other PLC and then it runs. If you need actual values, you should use Ram to Rom instruction. I recommend to upgrade PLC to newest Firmware. Regards, Towome

Your V2.1.x CPUs can only be updated using a 4MB memory card according to the procedure at the link below: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/18722504 However, in the STEP 7 V5.x hardware catalog, only the firmware V2.1 exists, and there is no 3 digit firmware. So technically, yes, you can exchange the V2.1.3 <=> V2.1.8 CPUs.
