All LEDs are blinking

Bahrain123 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Good morning dear, we have S7-400 PLC, and we have the following problem: All the LEDs of all the cards on the PLC panel are flashing and PLC system is not responding to communicate with labtop! We have turned-off the power supply and re-switched on, but nothing happens Could you please advice us what is actually the problem? Thanks and regards

Did you change anything in this rack, could be some pins are bend. Did it occur sudenly or after some actions made by you or external problems like verry short power fallures or spikes? regards, Marcjan

Hello, There are some possibilities and remedies but the easiest way to select would be sending the faulty CPU to your local repair shop.In addition to all discussed topics here,I add a quoted post from HERE: hdhosseini The following comments may help you despite the discussion on H CPUs.You can find the local shop HERE for more help regarding reparing your faulty CPU. hdhosseini Hello, for such a case there are some preliminary tests before sending the CPU to a local repair shop: Save the diagnostic buffer of the intact CPU and upload it here to see what was the cause of redundancy loss. Before next power cycle of faulty CPU, put it in STOP mode and check its behavior.If the CPU enters the STOP mode try to communicate and read the diagnostic buffer .In case of performing memory reset before going to STOP (Empty Buffer), try to test Link up and Update .Check the buffer in case of error. Check the proper grounding of main rack based on "Automation System S7-400 Hardware and Installation" Manual. There is an empirical method to check adverse effects of a faulty sync. module on a CPU.Inspect the sync. module and replace some with new ones and check the CPU's behavior. If non of steps help you , sending your faulty CPU to repair shop is inevitable.Please find the local service representative from "Contacts Worldwide". About the reason of this fault, there are some possibilities.Improper handling of the CPU and ignoring even trivial points for changing batteries may impair its function .Please, pay more attention to warnings in the manual "Automation System S7-400 Hardware and Installation" and try to adhere to all safety recommendations to avoid same cases in future.Also try to communicate with the system in STOP mode and if possible check option of firmware update. I hope you are lucky enough and one of the discussed possibiities solve your case.I guess, we reach to the point to receive a Draft of an FAQ for similar fequently occured errors and again "Marking another thread as FAQ" sounds less convincing. Krrish !! Posts: 73 Rating: (6)	I once faced the same problem at one of my sites. All LEDs on the CPU would suddenly start flashing. I had an EPROM card installed in my controller. Initially I thought it was a hardware / back-plane related problem. However, it was later diagnosed that this problem could also occur if there is an overflow of work memory of the CPU. In this case the CPU would perform an auto reset ofload memory and flash all LEDs. Corrective Measures: 1. Replace EPROM module with RAM module. 2. Use 'Compress' option in CPU Module Information to compress memory and delete redundant blocks. 3. Periodically load the User Program into ROM memory.
