using AWP commands in javascript

Regards, Gintaras This is almost exactly what I need (I put the script to be called in <body onload=""> to avoid the button) but I can't see how to expand it to work for several different <div>s which all need different plc tags to be updated. Is there a way to specify each tag to update individualy rather than loading an entire external file into a <div> tag? (I think I am correct that this is what your code is doing). Thanks, Jon

Ivo vd E. Posts: 20 Rating: (1)	you can put all the variables that you need in 1 xml file. In the script where you load the xml file you define new ID's wich you call with a <span>. In your loadXML after the request: if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; document.getElementById("I1").innerHTML= xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("I1")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; } the first id is used in the html-file, the tagname is the name you defined in the xml file <Data_block_1> <I1>:="Data_block_1".I1:</I1> </Data_block_1> now call your variable where you want like this: <span id="I1"></span> create it like this and it should work. The problem with using a DB is you need to also tell the web server what "Baza" is. Can anyone see where I am going wrong? If I load the .xml file directly I can see the tags have been replaced with their correct values by the webserver. Thanks for the help so far, Jon

jon_hill988 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	It is in the PLC, though I tried to debug the script in IE on my PC, I figured that it would at least load the AWP tag text into my <div>. In both cases the .xml is just sitting alongside index.html and I don't call it with the full file path. Should I be using the global url instead of a relative one? EDIT: Full URL path makes no change when viewing the page on the PLC websever. EDIT: After scratching my head for a while I found it, I had an extra ) where not needed in the xmlhttp.open line. All working now, thanks again. Jon

jon_hill988 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	OK, Now that it is working I notice the update rate is a bit slow and eratic. Is there anyway to speed it up? Changing the value for setTimeout seems to change it but no mater how low I go I can't get it to refreash faster than about every 6 seconds. Is this a problem with the script, the network, my browser or simply a limitation of the PLC? Jon
