Is it possible to take Ghost Backup from Siemens field PG without having the Norton Ghost Installed in the PG?

The PG does have an imager included on the installation discs, some PG packages have an OEM version of Ghost included. The only other possibility,is to remove the HDD from the PG and attach as an external drive to a PC that does have Ghost installed and create an image that way. Regards, Graeme.

Yes it is possible. I agree with gre_m, no offence to Graeme.IMO, it is not necessary to install Norton Ghost on the Field PG.Either create a boot disk (floppy, CD or flash drive) on a separate machine or use directly the Ghost CD, most of them (at least the SIMATIC Image Creator disks) are bootable.

aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	Hi Nothing against ghost but we are using acronis lately and as long as you can boot from CD and attach an external usb drive you can make a copy of your harddrive ( or only C drive for instance )It also works much faster than ghost. http://www.acronis.com Eric

gre_m Posts: 947 Rating: (45)	Hi! Exist 2version Norton ghost: 1. Compatible with Power quest - used in field Pg (ghost 9.0) 2. ghost 11.0 (compatible with gho 7.0,8.0). detail you can find in internet. I use ghost 8.3 an 11 under ms dos. This version is very fast , best compress, as acronis
