Simatic Box PC 620 DVD rom

phbosco Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	when I replace the original dvd-rom drive in my Simatic Box PC 620, which is a toshiba/samsung cd-rw/dvd-rom, by a Hitachi-LG cd-rw/dvd rom drive with model gcc-4244N, the system couldn't identify its existence. Is that mean we have to buy only an identical dvd-rom drive by toshiba/samsung?? Thanks for help.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	This problem has nothing to do with PCS7/Simatic software. I think this is because the driver is missing. Windows XP detects most HW devices but sometimes you need to install the driver.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well, I am not sure... maybe you already solved the issue here, but if not may it be that the issue here is the Master / Slave setting of the Drive? Most sold drives are set per default as Master but not all PC / Laptops use the drives as Master but as Slave. Setting the Drive as Slave is not always easy because there are no such settings to be made easily. In some cases you have to connect some pins, but this is explained on the Internet. You should pay attention how your old drive is configured (Master or Slave) and set up jumpers on a new DVD rom according your drive specification. Did you try your DVD rom on another computer with same operating system?
