Old S5 CPU and no possibility to get online

frohme Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Hello Friend of mine asked me to help him with S5 CPU. When I saw that stuff I was shocked. There is S5-110 ( 6ES5-900-7AD11) with only EEPROM module (6ES5-910-0AA41), and dosn't work properly - nobody knows where are documents, manual or something what can help. Now question - becuse of lack any connector to connect an PG and catch it online, is't possibly to read a EEPROM in normal way (it means in PG ) and is the code inside full compatible with the newest S5 CPU's ? Any explanation and help will be appreciate Thanks in advance frohme

You can still find the Manuals for the S5-110AG F-CPU on the German Product Support web-site. You can also find a pinout to make yor own Online Cabel, if you do not have one. 2.) Yes, you can with a PG read in the EEPROM, either with Step 5 or Com Eprom. It is a long time since I used a S5-F CPU, but I remeber I had to use Step 5 in conjunction with a addon for the Safety program. 3.)I am not sure about using a differnt S5 PLC, but if you stay in the same S5-110AG F CPU series you may be able to use the same EEPROM. On the other hand, you may want to look into migrating to a S7-300 Fail Safe CPU. Regards / mfg

In meantime I've found on Siemens sites a manual for AG110A but i'm not sure if it's almost the same like this one of mine, anyway seems different. Moreover on forum there are few topics that only old PG with very old version of Simstic S5 are able to read an EEPROM - is't true? All in all it must be remastering of this old control unit into new S7 - S7 315 probably will be more than good for this purpouse. If you will have any links to those German sites please post it. These can often be picked up cheap second hand?

Maybe I will find someone who have these old PG and he/(she is allmost impossible) can read what is inside. Few minutes ago I've had a speech with my collegue from Germany with over 30 years experience and he told me that today it will be similar to miracle to find someone who can be able to do something - guys are retired, computers treated years ago as junk, software - who remember that version and so on... Anyway thanks for all and I'll hope that on basis how this machinery should work I can write new programm for S7. Many thanks for all again. frohme

Converting cost a lot off time and the result is often verry disapointing. The old program can however help understanding the functions of the machine. Be good friends with the operators of the machine They can often tell you more then youcould espect. regards, Marcjan

frohme Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Hello again Two days ago when the problem arise I've checked some points, and pulled out from rack one of outputs module to read a Siemens number and to check if CPU without this one will go to STOP. Nothing happened and module was shifted back into. Today one guy which doesn't know that there were problems, turn it on, and since that momet all works properly. Whatever it was, nobody knows - good radiation or similar ideas. Owner was informed that it's neccessary to rebuild all control into new one, because nobody can help him in the future. Now for my knowledge I'll study all manuals about early beginning of PLC's - this is amazing how hard was to work in that time. Thanks again for all guys frohme

This link http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/adsearch/resultset.aspx?region=WW&lang=de&netmode=internet&ui=NDAwMDAxNwAA&term=ag110a&ID=152846&ehbid=152846 and inside is an statement that CPU102 which I have in spare junk parts can work with PB1 from older AG110A system. Mayby I found solution to read EPROM code - just to push it into CPU, connect to PG via serial interface and read it in a normal way. Had anyone try to catch it in this way? frohme
