And in my opinion, the best is to recieve a message (reply to your suggested solution) which telling you that you solved my problem. I feel very happy by these kind of messages. And may be the thread creator have some thing to add which may help other members in future. What I want to say, That feedback is very important. To say that problem solved, it will save time for all members who will face the same problem. They will read the thread, they will have many suggessions, but also the thread creator told that problem solved from suggesstion of user: xyz. Then they will go directly to the solution. It is tested now. And as feedback is important, we can not bind all users to feedback. And also we can notbind them for thanking or rating.

I mean it happens sometimes that you write something like "it's not possible" and another member come and say "it's possible". You can simply click disagree button. However, I think it would be better to discuss the technical matter again instead of just clicking disagree/dislike. Besides, it's not very common to find such technical argument. So discussions would solve the disagree issue. UMENCHO And what about "Thank" and "Rate"? Isn't the same logic? I don't think so. It doesn't look the same when it comes to disagree/dislike. UMENCHO Why do you think people will use eventually the new options? I can tell that the ones who may use this feature are most probably the ones who use the thank you button. IBN-Service In a technical forum, we do not need thsi facebook - ***. A man like you with your sarcastic opinions and criticism would use the dislike button a lot. I bet you (and maybe me) would use it frequently during campaigns. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However, I think such dislike/disagree button may cause more hate instead of making things easier and faster. Imagine that a member's post has10 or moredislikes instead of someone saying "My friend, I'm afraid I disagree with what you said for these reasons,............ ." For sure it will makehim angry. So, at the end I don't think it's a good thing to use dislike/disagree button. It's always better to discuss. On the other hand we do have rates and thank you button to indicate that you agree and like what's said. Best regards. H-H

Having such a feature sounds not so bad, but there are some points which i don´t like about this. 1. Just imagine that there is a discussion with two users, and you agree/disagree with one of them. Now you make thumbs-up/down, but nobody knows why you agree/disagree. I think it is good to know what makes you sure to be of one´s opinion. This forum is about discussing and we want information. 2. This thumbs-up/down feature could also lead to a misusage. Let´s say one of our users doesn´t like the other one. So maybe he is so angry that he makes thunmbs-down on every post the other user makes. This would lead to agressions and bad atmosphere in forum At the end i think the arguments against this feature are winning, but for this nice idea. Best regards O_Moderator

It is important to know, if a problem was solved. So the threads becomes helpfully also for users with the same problem in future. Unfortunately a lot of users do not give suchfeedback. And that is much moredisappointing than a missing "Thank", "Star" or even "Thumb".

On the other hand, for topics like this, the agree/disagree button would surely significantly save the space, I mean, this could simply shrink into the original post with +3/-5 votes and perhaps one or two additional posts. Perhaps this thing could apply only to certain parts of the forum (because it's more suitable for the meet&talk or suggestion kind of stuff) or users could just check if they want their post to be rated or not. I personaly sometimes miss the absence of agree/disagree, but the Thank button is there and foremost I think it's a matter of habbit. What I can't agree, though, are the arguements such as it would lead to someone "hating" on someone else or people would get mad if they get disvoted much. I mean, we ain't kids here, right, by a majority anyway, so a) there ain't no reason to do it and b) if that would happen, we should be able to deal with it, because, geez, world ain't spinnin' around few votes/disvotes on something. .) Anyway, to conclude the outcome of this post - it's could be nice feature, but it surely ain't necessary.

There should be one of them. O_Moderator 1. Just imagine that there is a discussion with two users, and you agree/disagree with one of them. Now you make thumbs-up/down, but nobody knows why you agree/disagree. I think it is good to know what makes you sure to be of one´s opinion. This forum is about discussing and we want information. Nobody prevents you to answer and explain your opinion in addition to agree/disagree. O_Moderator 2. This thumbs-up/down feature could also lead to a misusage. See and here you would have already gotten the minus/disagree thingie, I don't see how this would be of any use whatsoever, when there are already stars for this. I believe the simple idea Vithani had (and the simple idea this mostly works) was to be able to express simply your attitude towards the respective post, nothing less, nothing more.

I know this is Not FACE BOOK and I told to add Thumb UP and DOWN(NOT LIKE/DISLIKE) to just show your Openion..Most of the other Forums have it.. IBN-Service If you agree, say "thank". Thats My point.. Normally thanks will be said by only who got help.. Others who agree with answers will avoid thanks button most of the time... IBN-Service This is an information platform, not the social center of life.... If you looking for friends, serious agreement and trust, check the real world, not the www. oh.. Looks like Thumbs UP and Down means a lot to you..I dont think it relates with making friends or serious argue or bla bla... Ayman Elotaify It is good to recieve a Thank you., ... Exactly what I wanted to say... Conclusion: Most of the user expect little appriciation after replying someone.. But Most of the time User avoid it... Now what I think is Use of this feature will increase frequency of Responding to one's reply by thread starter as well as other users... For me also, If I see some user give Nice reply to some one in discussion, I will prefer to use Agree Button instead of Keeping extra Post saying that YES I AGREE... For Moderators - This can be excluded in Point calcualtion and Staus Update to avoid misuse as well as to avoid extral burden on you.. Main IDEA behind this was to show some 3rd Party about how much Percentage Users are Agree with reply and to get more feedback from Users...
