I need to program an EPROM of a CP524 using an external USB prommer. I have installed the driver for this prommer but I don't know how I can identify this prommer in PROM 525. I'm not sure even if it is possible to use PROM 525 with External USB prommer? If the answer is "NO" so what is the correct way to program an EPROM using this prommer?

We used the CP524 several years ago and we always used the Siemens PG, never the extern Prommer.

I am not sure if you can adjust the port of Prommer within the Com 525 but I would suggest not.

Thanks, SCOTT. But I already have no access to PG. There is an adaptor in my USB prommer package in order to write an S5 EPROM. So I think there must be a way to program the S5 EPROM using the external prommer.

Anybody having experience with this situation?

Does nobody have any suggestion? 

The USB external Prommer is a product of Siemens so there must be a way to use this device to write S5 EPROMs. Please if you had any experience using this device let me have some more information.

I just switched on my old Notebook and made some screenshots (attached). Sorry this is German Step5 but it should look the same.

First you have a special program called PROM525 to program the EPROM. When you start the program and press the F4 you can fill out what EPROMER you have.

If you want to program the EPROM you press F1 from the basic screen and select your file (a *.525 file).

And remember: if you use a CP525 you also can use a RAM. This is easier to make online changes. For the CP524 you need an EPROM.

if I remember correctly key F4 reads the main information of the EPROM. It is not possible to edit them and it is not possible to select a prommer.

COM525 uses the "standard" prommer of STEP5. I expect that you select the prommer / interface in STEP5.
