Time synchronization between PLC and Unified HMI

Hi geri,

the Unified Comfort Panel can receive the time only from an NTP Server. You can not set the time with the PLC time directly. Since i am no PLC Expert i don't know if the PLC can be used as NTP Server or if you need another component. I do know though that the PLC can get the time from the NTP Server aswell.

you do not need an Internet Connection to user NTP Servers. Several Devices can do this. I found following SIOS Entry: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/82203451 i have not tested it. But maybe your switch/router can do this. Or you have an IPC connected. I just googled "Windows as local NTP Server". Same here: i have not tested. 

I don't know anything about what your found in the documentation.

You could just read PLC time, using RD_LOC_T instruction, store it in a DTL tag and then you show this tag in HMI.

This is assuming that you don't care about Unified control panel time, you just want the correct time to be shown during runtime.

Yeah, it is possible to do it with NTP server, but my client does not allow PLC or HMI to have any connection to the internet.

I found this in some WinCC Unified manual but I do not understand what can I do with this

Mode of time synchronization between HMI system and automation system

HmiTimeSynchronizationMode TimeSynchronizationMode { get; }

The "HmiTimeSynchronizationMode" enumeration contains the following values:

● None (0)

● Slave (1)

● Master (2)
