We have a working PLC control system that is using CPU 1516-3 PN/DP currently with article number 6ES7 516-3AN02-0AB0. Now we are going to update PLC to a newer version of hardware wtih article number 6ES7 516-3AP03-0AB0 and we are using TIA Portal v16. My issue is that the 3AP03 manual says it can be configured with older version of TIA portal, by setting it as 6ES7 516-3AN02-0AB0. However, I have never get success to download the HW config and software. It always gives me error and returns the following message, which is not happy about me setting it as 6ES7 516-3AN02-0AB0. *********************************************************************************************** Module exists. faulty Differences were found between the loaded configuration and the offline project. The online and offline module configuration data are different. Fault LED (SF) Additional information for the module: Online article number: 6ES7 516-3AP03-0AB0 Offline article number: 6ES7 516-3AN02-0AB0 *********************************************************************************************** I understand if I update to a newer TIA portal license might solve the problem, but the company, which did the PLC programming, is not ready to move to newer TIA version yet, and we still need software support from them. So if we do upgrade the TIA portal license, they will not be able to open the software and provide support. So I am hoping the best solution is I can download the software as manual said and everyone is out of trouble. Could anyone please give me some suggestions and comments? Thanks advance for your help. |

Hi AutomanXL, the configuration as the predecessor 3AN02 is correct and should only give you a warning about the differences but not an actual error, so there is probably something else at fault. |

Hi, yes, the Additional information for the module is only an information and is not cause of the error! Regards, Towome |

Thanks for the comments. You were correct, this message is not related to the issue I had. Here is what I did to get it work, - Updated to the latest version of TIA Portal V16, from update6 to update 8 - Did a MRES reset and assigned the IP and profinet device name again - Format the memory card Then I was able to download both HW config and SW blocks. However the cpu module mismatch information is still there, I believe as you said, they are physically different, that's just a warning message. Thanks for your input. |

Thanks for your comments. It could be not the latest versoin of the TIA Portal or unformatted memory card, as I did get a message related to the memory card, so I formatted it seems help. |
