TIA Portal -> Project view -> Project tree -> Online access -> Connected network adapter -> Update devices -> Double-click on the PLC with the correct MAC address -> Online & diagnostics -> set the PLC PN name and IP to match your TIA Portal project's PLC name and IP.  Update devices and it should show the new PN name / IP

Hello all,

I am brand new to Siemens and TIA portal. I was given a Siemens S7-1200 (CPU 1211 DC/DC/DC) with a Profinet module. I am trying to change the IP address but I am not sure how to go about this, I try to change it in the program by selecting the “IP address is set directly at the device” but once I power cycle the PLC it reverts back to what it originally was. I have also tried to change the IP using an IP explorer tool and once again, once the power get cycled the IP reverts. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the only PLC in the project is the S7-1200 PLC, delete any topology links.

Then undo that setting about IP set by the project/program.

I have tried this before and the IP didnt stay after a power cycle. I ended up uploading a blank project into the PLC because there were some old projects that could have been messing with things. The IP was set to 192.68.0.1 by default but I want it to be 192.168.1.24. The issue is when I try the way you are suggesting I get a 240:9 alarm and it says that the IP can't be changed.
