OP7 back up issue

Rick D Posts: 43 Rating: (0)	Hello Guys, Does this backup work with a USB to serial adaptor? I tried it out but it didn work out for me. Although I could see that the communication was established when I used a USB to serial adaptor with a designed cable like said earlier. The backup progress window shows fetching information from device and then after some time it shows communication was interrupted. I tried setting baud rates at 9600, 19200 and 38400 each but with no success. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Fredrick

Hello, A USB to serial converter will change all kinds of timing aspects of the RS232 protocol, particularly the relationship between the serial data and the hand shakes. That's true for almost all USB to serial converters, only a few work. For that reason i use a PMCIA card in my (older)laptop with COM port if i need (real)RS232. Regards, Marcjan

But I am using a cheap"Profilic" Adaptor that is working well with all kinds of devices, also it is working fine with OP7! /tf/WW/en/Posts/59010
