Hello there.

Could somebody give me steps of how to print off code in S5 to file such as Word etc?

I dont have a printer local so cant print only to a file.

I have tried to do it an get a file with extension @LS.INI but this is full of jargon when i open it?

Any ideas????

Do you have an email address. I tried uploading a step by step guide to printing in Step 5 but I am havving difficulty uploading the PDF file.

Thanks for that, I can now print directory listings of Step5 Blocks on my Windows Printer, so a big step forwards.

But what I can't seem to get my head round is printing the contents of the blocks in ladder format. If I edit the block I can see the ladder segment by segment on the screen, but no way of printing either the one segment that I can see, or preferably ALL the segments in that particular program block.

It's probably me being dense, I'm very new to this program so sorry to be a pain!

I do have a manual, (6ES5998-0MA24)  but it is entirely written it would seem, from the perspective of initially writing the PLC program whereas I am trying to reverse engineer an old PLC program with none of the original documentation.

It's over 500 pages long (3 Mbyte) and takes some digesting for my poor old brain !

19.1 Overview of the Documentation Functions

The program sections are output in the form in which you edited them and

with a footer if you have selected this function. The data can be output

either from the program file or from the PLC (see Section 19.2).

The program sections are printed out with additional graphical elements

(lines, boxes etc.) and a footer. This data can only be output from the

program file and not directly from the PLC (see Section 19.3).

All the functions of the enhanced output can be executed by doc

commands which you edit and store in files. Using these commands, you

can run frequently recurring outputs without laborious input routines. Some

doc commands can be used to call further doc command files achieving a

sequential structure. This can be represented graphically with theEdit

structurefunction (see Section 19.5.6).

You can print a hardcopy as follows:

1. with theSHIFT + PRINTkey

Under Windows 95, this key combination creates a“snapshot”of the

screen that you can print using WordPad.

Yes thanks, I've been taking screen shots but it becomes unmanageable with 172 segments in the one program block I'm working with !

Having just realised that 6ES5998-0MA24 is actually a searchable document will make things easier - well I hope it does, . . . . my head hurts !!!!!

What I am trying to achieve is find out why one particular M code on my CNC lathe locks the system up. In this particular implementation 'M20' prepares the system for 'M19 Spindle Orientation' - M20 is coded by the manufacturer who went out of business in 1992, but M19 is an inbuilt Siemens code in the 820T controller.

My foray into STEP5 and the PLC is just to find out why when M20 is invoked 'Read In' of the next command is inhibited.

It's been a long and tortuous path so far :)

You have written that you want to print the segment you are currently watching. That's why my suggestion with the hard copy command.

You can print the whole program in a text file with cross-references and assignment list. The file then has the extension "LS.INI".
And you can then print this file with "STEP5 PRINT".

If reading through the manual lasts too long, then upload your complete S5 project (ie all the files you have) as a ZIP file into the forum. Then I print everything to you in a PDF file.

Thank you, but I have managed to fathom it out and produced a .PDF - the attached is just the main program block PB202

Next task is to annotate it with labels for the inputs and outputs that I know from the circuit diagram.
