I am trying to make an OPC server with a Simotion so as I can read some global variables in a PC (via Python program for example) from the program I have in Simotion, but I am not able to setup the server ... I have searched on the internet and there is no try. Lots of manuals but nothing clear and what I only see most are Simatic Step 7 OPC server configurations. I have tried to do the (what I think) similar thing with Simotion but I don't get anything ...

Does anybody know if there is a decent manual/tutorial so as to do this?

And what kind of an OPC server are you talking about? DA, UA, XML ?

The Simotion can run only the OPC XML. For other OPC flavors, you will need the SimaticNet OPC servers running on a PC connected to your Simotion.

First, you should go to HWConfig and in properties of a CPU tick OPC XML/diagnostic pages Activate.

Second, in the Scout in Properties of the CPU check Enable OPC XML for global device variables if you need them and for each program unit, you need variables from do this as well.

All you just told me is done; however, the question is how do I get now to tags (read and/or edit) using an OPC client? I suppose I need to create a server but I cannot find anywhere clearly how can this be done ...

I am using OPC Scout V10 but no idea of how could I create the server (if is possible from here, that I don't really know.

What I have seen is that all this is quite confusing and there's no good documentation with decent examples of how to do something that, as I think, should be easy ...
