Good Evening Mr.Wustenrauber,

My name is Danilo Figueiredo from Siemens E S SO (Brasil) and I´m working together Mr. Carlos (Smurfit) to solve this problem with Modbus TCP/IP CP343 Advanced.
Well We already make all the procedures described at the manual "OPEN MODBUS 'TCP Communication via CP343-¨1" and unfortunately we didn´t have sucess yet.
Our main doubt´s are:

1) Our system will work as "CP Server". We are setting "SERVER_CLIENT" for true and "ENQ_ENR" for true at OB100 (as described at the manual example). We created two little DB´s for change data (DB5-Read and DB12-Write) in our project. Both of them are inserted in a "CALL FB100, DB100" at OB100.One of them (DB5) are located at DB1, START1, END1; and the other (DB12) are located at DB2, START2, END2. At OB1We only have measurement and things that should be read, and they are programmed as described at the manual.
Well If I chek the "ERROR" and"STATUS" with the CPU running they give me "Error 8183h" all the time. I have checked at FC5 and FC6 to analise this error and they don´t give better information to look for the real problem. Could you help me about others information about this error?

2)In this board CP343-1 we don´t have any "address switch" so I would like to know... How do the modbus identify the Client orthe Server? I would like only to confirm thatmodbus uses the ID to identifyin the Modbusnet.

3)Do you knowif there´s a limitation of packages lengths "data exchanged" intothe DBx, STARTx, ENDx?

1) We were able to communicate both systems.
1.1) We loaded the foxboro fbm232 because we did not had ping to thefbm232. We configured the ip address 192.168.0.10 mask 255.255.255.0 alternate gateway 192.168.0.1
1.2) We proceded to use a pc with the software calta computer systems modbus rev3.5 to test communication with the fbm232 and were able to read and write.

1.3) After we got ping then we try to communicate to the siemens plc and were not able to do it.
On the siemens side network configuration instead of adding a station and then selecting the CP317 and adding a connection we did not add a station and then added the connetion and were able to select undefinned connection. By doing so it was not necessary to put the IP address of the foxboro fbm on the connection or the port.

1.4) By doing the above we were able to communicate both systems having a cross connection utp cable ( it doesn´t work with a direct connection cable).

2) We have problems to read and write data at the same time. We can read data from the siemens to the foxboro. We can write data from the foxboro to the siemens. but we cannot do both.
For the above we have 2 integeer tables. One for writing data to the foxboro system at registers 40002,40003,40004,40005 and one for recieving data from the foxboro system at registers 40006,40007,40008,40008

We found out that we can only write and read if the data is in one table of the DB_1 to DB_5 MODBUS block data block numbers. It seems like the foxboro fbm232 optimizes communication in one package and cannot coordinate different communication pakages.
