USB Connection to Simatic 555-1105 CPU

Though there are some software utilities that allow you to map a USB port to a COM port, I have never succeeded connecting over a USB port with Tisoft installed in DOS emulation mode on a Windows XP PC. 505 Workshop from Fastrak Softworks Inc. supports USB, Serial & Ethernet ports. You can use an external USB to serial converter like the BAFO BF810 if you haven't got a serial port on your PC. http://www.bafo.com/products_bf-810_F.asp Regards,

veesixcav Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Thanks I am currently trying to weigh up which software package to use. I only want to be able to monitor the program and view CPU errors We have a few of these systems in the plant and one of them is becoming a little bit problematic. Currently we have no method of connecting to the PLC, hence the questions on ports. I downloaded the TISOFt last week but have not got round to checking it out yet Regards

WireGuy1950 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	When the internal com port on my laptop failed I managed to get a Keyspan usb to serial converter to work when I installed TI-Soft in a DOS virtual machine on the computer. The only problem was that you had to be connected before you started the VM. I had the KeySpan converter assigned to Com 2 and disabled com 1.
