S7-1200 IEC TON Timer - how to set Preset value via KTP?

Homeroid_BL Posts: 211 Rating: (6)	Hi all! I use IEC TON timer in my S7-1200 program. There is also KTP HMI connected. How to make IO field on KTP screen where I can change preset value of a timer? If I make a PLC tag type 'time' in PLC, this tag DOESNOT appear in HMI when I create IO field with format 'Time'. Also, if I make a PLC tag type 'IECtimer' in PLC, this tag DOESNOT appear in HMI when I create IO field with format 'Time' Best regards.

Homeroid_BL Posts: 211 Rating: (6)	Thanks (but NOTHING is simple at SIEMENS grrrrrargh) :) If that is the way, I think there is other way too: no neeed to scale at PLC, it is enough to set shift of 3 decimal places in HMI DINT tag. So, when You se example 10.000 at HMI (which is 10 or ten, displayed), PLC will get 10000 which is realy set at HMI. OK?

If I understood correctly, you restated what was previously suggested, but for me, in a much more difficult to understand way. It is quite common to have the HMI scale automatically for display regardless of manufacturer. It is also quite common to see presets in integer format. Forcing the preset to a time value isn't necessarily required in every case nor in every PLC manufacturer. I share your frustration with a great many things. However, I find that reading the FAQs and other online resources before posing my questions makes any answers make more sense to me. Perhaps you have already exhausted all resources and are venting like I have done in the past? Also, the subject of this topic is covered several times in these forums. You should be able to search for preset and find the threads fairly quickly.

Wulfgar Posts: 42 Rating: (3)	I agree with Homeroid_BL, this is Siemens latest and supposedly greatest all in one integrated package yet the HMI cannont read and write directly to a time value in the PLC. I tried the same thing assumeing I could set the timer preset right from the HMI like most Brands. Another fail for Siemens.
