Opening a confirmation pop up before opening a FacePlate

iant Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi All Hoping some one can help me out ,I am trying to add a POP UP asking are you sure before opening a Valve Face Plate (G_D_VLV) .i have tried ading some code to call the valve face plate from another location editing the code SSMOpenFacePlate(lpszPictureName, lpszObjectName) to SSMOpenFacePlate("G_D_VLV", "F27XV2021") But this does not allow me to open the faceplate .I think this should be quite easy but i am more familiar with Wonderware and Yokogawa .Any assistance you could give me would be greatly appreciated Regards I turton

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, as I know, the WinCC V6.0 SP 3a is a part of PCS7 V6.1, but anyway, when you call the script SSMOpenFacePlate(lpszPictureName,lpszObjectName); the lpszPictureName isn't thepicture nameof a faceplate, but the process picture where is the object (lpszObjectName). Which faceplate should be opened is determined from the Servername property of the object. So I suggest to make the srcript for opening of a confirmation window, this will return true/false from the buttons and then if returned true call SSMOpenFacePlate(lpszPictureName,lpszObjectName); Regards Sydney btw: the confirmation for opening a faceplate is so strange for me...

In the script open this window and fill some hidden i/o fields with the picturename and object name. Then if pressed Yes, call the SSMOpenFacePlate() with the passed parameters, don't forget to close the confirmation window. Regards Sydney

iant Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi Sydney Hoping you can help again been trying to get this to work all day now , could you tell me how i pass the faceplate info to the picture window so i can open the face plate . I have tried writing the information to word and changing the bits for yes know and displaying the messge .But i can read the date from the picture window until after the script has finished . again thank you for your assistance . If possible could you please enclose the script Again thank you for your assistance

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, could try this: char szPicture[MAX_PATH]; strcpy(szPicture,lpszPictureName); strcat(szPicture,".OperationWindow:Confirmation"); SetVisible(lpszPictureName,"OperationWindow",TRUE); SetOutputValueChar(szPicture,"PictureName",lpszPictureName); SetOutputValueChar(szPicture,"ObjectName",lpszObjectName); where OperationWindow is a picture window with the Confirmation.Pdl picture assigned (or you can assign it in the function: SetPictureName(lpszPictureName,"OperationWindow","Confirmation.Pdl"); before opening), PictureName and ObjectName are I/OFields in picture Confirmation. Haven't tested it, but it should fill the i/o fields with the appropriate names which I hope can be used for the SSMOpenFaceplate function. This is when the OperationWindow is on the same process picture as object, but should be better to make it on some parent picture, then you have to change the script accordingly. Regards Sydney

I believe that the best way of implementing this behavior is by constructing your udo to include the special confirmation box. Then set mouse action to display and format the “confirmation box” (some text and the buttons Cancel, OK?) Adjustment of size should take place during runtime, otherwise the objects become to large, testing is indeed needed. From this box OK button call “SSMOpenFacePlate(lpszPictureName, lpszObjectName)” as normal. And of course reformat and hide the “confirmation box” From the Cancel button, only reformat and hide the “confirmation box” This might look difficult, but its only three items more in your udo. There’s one text item and two buttons more. Resizing and moving items in runtime, relative as per the udo position(x,y) can be done in several ways, direct connection, c-script or using vbs-script. But, why a confirmation box at all? It’s very annoying having to click ok all the time and the users tend to go “ok-omatic”, so really important confirmationboxes is ignored and is that really a desired behavior anyplace?, just my thought on the usage of confirmationboxes. //PD
