WinCC 6.2 with non-siemens OPC Server

Ross_A Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Hi there, Is it possible for WinCC to read OPC tags from a non-siemens OPC server (i don't know if WinCC has it's own OPC server?)? I am using a siemens TCP/IP interface card to read data from a S7-315-2DP into WinCC V6.2 Tags. There is another system in the factory (not installed by us) and i'm not sure what PLC they use, but they load tags into an OPC server (not sure what manufacturer) and then a web interface. I was wondering if it would be possible to link WinCC to communicate with the other systems OPC server and if so how and would extra licences be required? I know this isn't very clear so ask if you need anything clarifying. Thank you for your time. Regards, Ross

WinCC has a built-in OPC server and client... Ross_A . . .if so how and would extra licences be required? . . . From Tag Management, add new driver OPC.chn and then from OPC Item Manager establish new connection (and tags). You may need a WinCC Connectivity Pack License.
