SummerSeaSun Bronze Member Joined: 2/5/2013 Last visit: 1/14/2026 Posts: 345 Rating: (5)	Think of this page structure: - status_bar: Picture window with Statictext - page.DiplayName: developer input Each time you change page this is triggered: Function Text_Trigger(Byval Item) HMIRuntime.Trace " ======= page_change =============" Dim obj Dim TESTO Set obj = HMIRuntime.ActiveScreen.Parent.Parent.DisplayName Set TESTO = obj HMIRuntime.Trace "Name = " &TESTO & vbNewLine Dim objStaticText Set objStaticText = ScreenItems("Statictext") objStaticText.Text = TESTO End Function This result in: ======= page_change =========================Errore di run-time di Microsoft VBScript============ Application : Picture : barra_alto.pdl_Triggers Function : Function Statictext_Text_Trigger(Byval Item) Line : 6 Error : Necessario oggetto: '[string: "PRINCIPALE"]' ============Errore di run-time di Microsoft VBScript============ This means that the "PRINCIPALE" is correctly read from parent page, but whats missing to be the correct type for objStaticText.Text. If I try objStaticText.Text = "TESTO" it's displayed correctly. I cannot do the set tag version expained in FAQ, because more clients are involved.

I think you need to change it to: Dim obj Dim TESTO Set obj = HMIRuntime.ActiveScreen.Parent.Parent TESTO = obj.DisplayName ...

Dim obj Dim TESTO Set obj = HMIRuntime.ActiveScreen.Parent.Parent Set TESTO = CStr(obj.DisplayName) HMIRuntime.Trace "Name = " &TESTO & vbNewLine Dim objStaticText Set objStaticText = ScreenItems("Titolo") objStaticText.Text = TESTO If I add Dim TESTO As String it goes to errore while compiling. Also tried a copy/paste from script manual there's definition: Dim strObjName As String But check syntax return error as it's need an instruction end (if I remove As String it compile)! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one instead run fine: Function Text_Trigger(Byval Item) HMIRuntime.Trace " ======= page_change =============" Dim obj Dim TESTO TESTO = HMIRuntime.ActiveScreen.Parent.Parent.DisplayName 'MsgBox TESTO HMIRuntime.Trace "Name = " &TESTO & vbNewLine Dim objStaticText Set objStaticText = ScreenItems("Titolo") objStaticText.Text = TESTO End Function

bg2492 Posts: 7298 Rating: (2188)	Hello SummerSeaSun, the problem maybe the "HMIRuntime.ActiveScreen.Parent.Parent" "ActiveScreen" does only work, if the picture has the focus. But this is not always shure. To be shure, you should use "Referencing from the basic picture" see manual "SIMATIC HMI WinCC V7.5 SP1 WinCC Information System" "Example: Writing Object Properties" "Referencing from the basic picture" https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109772961/56267519627 Regards Georg Berghof

You use "Set" when you create a new object that you then will use for something. You use the normal assign to just set a variable equal to a value, which is the example I listed.
