How do I use a variable tag instead of a fixed text?

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is give a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Description:

The WinCC Alarms Control has already a very nice tool that allow to configure static (offline) and dynamic (online) filters for alarms. Despite of it, in some applications, it should interesting to filter alarm text by scripting.

In this simple sample, by clicking on button (whit or without the help of filling a IO field) just alarms that contain a specific key text in your text definition are showed.

This concept could be used all for other filters (for example, class). See notes and references.

Requirements:

WinCC V7.3.

Project with a minimum configuration (stop button See references “WinCC V7 – Simple Sample: Discrete Alarm”https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/br/en/posts/135060/).

Configuration main steps:

• Open a picture

• Create a button

• Configure in the follow script on button click event:

Notes:

• The text "Control1" should be adapted to Alarm Control name (Properties → AxAlarmControl → Object Name) to be filtered

• The text "TEXT1 LIKE 'Alarm 0 active'" should be adapted to the filter key.

Examples:

"TEXT1 LIKE 'Alarm 0 active'" = Alarm text should match with 'Alarm 0 active'

"TEXT1 LIKE 'Alarm 0*'" = Alarm text should starts with 'Alarm 0'

"TEXT1 LIKE '*0*'" = Alarm text should have '0' in the text

"TEXT1 LIKE 'Alarm 0 active' or "TEXT1 LIKE 'Alarm 1 active'" = Alarm text should match with 'Alarm 1 active'" or with 'Alarm 1active'

etc.

do you work with C Script or VB Script?

To read out a TAg with VB and C is discribed in the manual.

then you only have to build your string that is needed for the filter.

With String functions in C or with & operator in VB Script

Sorry for the delayed response.

I'm using a C script, but when I'm trying to generate a string, it seems like on every run command, the old script doesn't get cleared from the string variable and the new script sometimes amends with the old script. Also, a few times, I've observed that the sprintf function substitutes the same variable in both places (area_plc and area_device). Below is my script, please have a look.
