Change Faceplate Tag Association At Runtime

BobZA Advanced Member Joined: 9/16/2019 Last visit: 9/2/2025 Posts: 56 Rating: (0)	Good Day Everyone, I am using WinCC V7.5 and I have created a small faceplate with a User Defined Tag ... that I created in the Tag dialog box after selecting "Configure Faceplate Type". I can place this Faceplate on a picture window and assign a PLC tag to this faceplate ... under the User-defined Tag section of the Faceplate properties. This works well. All good so far. Now what I really want to do is place 2 off these Faceplate instances on a picture window ... that I will activate on button press ... but I want to dynamically assign the tags associated with these faceplates from a VBS script ... but I am stuck and I do not know how to do this. Does anybody know how to assign a different tag to a faceplate user defined tag using a VBS script ? Thanks!

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 9/10/2025 Posts: 16386 Rating: (1934)	Hello BobZA On a faceplate instance you cannot dynamise the interface tag connections. If you do a rightclick on the tag interface then you can only set a tag on it, you cannot dynamise it with a script or a direct connection. In Script I also do not find a possibility for accessing this interface. (tested with WinCC V8) Perhaps I´m missing something but I think it will not work like this Bye Murof

Then you can use the Tagprefix of the screenwindow. If you name your stuct instances with a changable prefix (for example Motor1UDT, Motor2UDT)... then you set the Tagname UDT only to the interface and as Prefix you can use Motor1 or Motor 2... If you then set the screen windows unvisible/visible again, then the tags will be reloaded. Works without problems. perhaps this would be a proper workaround Bye Murof

So in my case I will have a screenwindow ... that contains 3x smaller screenwindows ... each small screenwindow will have the faceplate. Then use a script to set the 3 different tag prefixes

If you want to make exceptions then you can use @NOTP for example (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109792585/129462634507) -> and this works also with a struct on the faceplate instance Bye Murof
