Is it windows administrator user where run WinCC project? Thank you ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from Accessing WinCC Databases with SQL Server Manager.

If you want to access the database from another application you will have to use the Connectivity Pack, I am attaching information: Export of archive data using the SIMATIC WinCC/Connectivity Pack (OLE DB Provider)

The customer needs to do a WinCC Project backup while the Runtime is running...by means of third party application. I know that the WinCC DB is locked and only be accessed by the WinCC CopyProject... But the customer claim that if he had a administrative access to the WinCC DB He would be able to do a Wincc project backup... I don't know...

Whith this user you can also log in to SQL Server management studio Check all the user goups the User has that was used for WinCC installation. Which this you should have full access Bye Murof

Alex.P Silver Member Joined: 1/28/2016 Last visit: 1/14/2026 Posts: 475 Rating: (18)	Use the Copy WinCC Project Addon User Windows Shadow Copy to copy the Project (or some backup tool like Acronis folder copy) Don't Backup all single SQL DBs (Project RT & all ALG and all TLG DBs)

So every time a archive segment is finished it would be copied to a backup path (for example on a network share or a secure data storage).If you would need the data then you can connect the Backup segments you need back in Runtime. bye Murof
