How to take WinCC Backup

This is problem in one of my coustomer site. I have asked them to Close Runtime => Stop the WinCC Autostart => Restart PC => After Restart => Remove Sharing of WinCC Backup folder => Add to Zip. The zipping process is getting stopped at 64% everytime.

After you start it you get within seconds a popup with "OK". Press it and try to backup again. Do you have shared files or folders (use computermanagement in windows to check it)? CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 10/3/2025 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi saravanna, if expert suggestion didn't work...seems a very strange problem if i remeber well some "compression programs" like PkZip had dimension limitation: with a big number of files or dimension pkzip aborted the operation. Did you tryed to clean your project from ".sav" files or everything you don't need? Did you tryed with a different file compression programs (if possible) can you show what says what happens when operation aborted (do you receive message about that)? Regards

Navnag Platinum Member Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 1/8/2026 Posts: 2327 Rating: (309)	Dear Sarvana I think the onlt recommended procedure is : a) Close the project and Exit WinCC Explorer ( Select Close Project and Exit WinCC Explorer Optionwhen prompted. b)Run Start->SIMATIC->WInCC->Tools->Project Duplicator. Select Project to backup and use "Save As" button and specify a new location to store the copied project. Now you can use Winzip etc softwared to compress the copied project folder in needed This is what we always use without any problems. There is no need of removing share in this procedure Navnag

aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	Hi After you have closed the wincc project you can try this from the run command line ( press Start ,press run and type 'reset_wincc.vbs' this reset everything from winncc and also 'frees' the database connections.you should then be able to make a back-up .try using winrar if other programs give errors.
