jorpe Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hi, I've created a c-action on the click event on a button in graphics designer in WinCC. The c-action writes the values of several tags to a logfile. The problem is that this logfile will become huge after a while. I only need to have logdata for the last week in the logfile. Is it possible to overwrite data in a logfile when the data is a week old - a kind of circular log?

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	You could do this very easily using a database but not really possible in a flat file (i.e. CSV) My suggestions : a) Create a new logfile for each day. Have a weekly script run that deletes any files older than 1 week old. You can do this using DOS scripts in a batch file called from WinCC b) Use the ODBC Driver for Text files to open the file, run an SQL query to delete all rows with a datetime value older than one week c) Write the values to a database. e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL Server, MySQL,etc. d) Use the WinCC Tag Logging Editor ! NOTE: b) and c) require a good working knowledge of SQL and databases. If you do not have this then I would steer clear of these options.
