Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	If what you're saying is: That AI_1234_High_High_alarm_status, for instance, could be equipment1_high_high_alarm_status, or equipment2_high_high_alarm_status. Like.. when you open the faceplate the tag AI_1234_High_High_alarm_status receives the value of the tag equipment1_high_high_alarm_status. And whenever this equipment1_high_high_alarm_status changes, AI_1234_High_High_alarm_status should change right along, right? So the color would only change when this status tag AI_1234_High_High_alarm_status changes...

waterguy Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Exactly! only the value would change whenequipment1_high_high_alarm_status or equipment2_high_high_alarm_statuschanges depending which equipment picture you select.It would not change when AI_1234_high_high_alarm_status changes because that will not change onceyou are onthe picture. In some places it is called faceplating and in others it is indirect addressing. So you see, the trigger need to handle indirect addressing/faceplating and that's where my problem comes in.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Thought you'd already made sure that whenequipment1_high_high_alarm_statusor simply the status tag changes, AI_1234_high_high_alarm_status would change as well... I'd use Picture Cycles for triggers, then.. this way you'd make sure to catch any changes whenever the faceplate was already open... Best regards, Danielle

waterguy Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	I did some test code and when I'm on the faceplate AI_1234_high_high_alarm_status is set to equipment1_high_high_status. Changing the contents of equipment1_high_high_status does not effect AI_1234_high_high_alarm_status.This makes sence because AI_1234_high_high_alarm_status is a text tagand the indirection check box tells the systemread the text in AI_1234... and theget the value from that.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	For this to work your script would have to check the value of the tag which the 1024_high.... tag represents. And this script would be executed with a picture cycle... In C it would be something like GetTagByte(GetTagText(1024_high...)); This line gets the byte from the tag which has it's name stored in 1024_high... Best regards, Danielle
