Manic123 Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I'm making application in VisualBasic 2008 for data collection from WinCC, with usage ActiveX component OPC DAAutomation 2.0. I found one small example with usage of this object in Excel, but some parts are not running in VisualBasic. I'm looking for documentation of activeX "Siemens OPC DAAutomation 2.0". Can you help me, where I could find this? Nice day Marian

Bilal Moolla Posts: 133 Rating: (9)	Hi Manic If you installed WinCC then the communication documentation will be found in C:\Program Files\Siemens\WinCC\Documents\English\communication Sorry but I do not have first hand knowledge of this. On this site (kepware) you can found the VB/VB.NET examples, and you can use them to get access to WinCC OPC server. Just replace 'Kepware.KEPServerEX.V4' with 'OPCServer.WinCC.1'. WinCC RT must be running, when you want to connect to WinCC OPC server. http://www.kepware.com/KEP_KB/default.asp?ToDo=view&questId=84&catId=60 You can download trial version (2 hours running, then you must restart) of Kepware OPC server. Inside is also very good OPC client (writen in VB, with source code), which I always use to test my connections to OPC servers. In fact, it's very simple to connect from VB to OPC server, when your VB application and OPC server are on the same PC machine. But, when you have your VB on one PC and OPC server on another PC (server), there is pain in the ass to configure the connections, because of the DCOM settings (security).... Anyway, on the Kepware site you will found all you need (also for DCOM settings) to run VB application with OPC. Regards from sLOVEnia...

Ates Posts: 198 Rating: (19)	actually, please install simatic net. When you install it you will have a folder for simatic net. Under of it you will find example programs which is written by many languages. you can look and find out some methods.
