Change TagAddress in script

Hello Webpower,

a simple way is to use an indirect adressing.
This means, you use a string-tag in which you write the Tagname, which should be used.

The other way is to use the function "SetLink" to change the connected tag to
an object-property.

Thx for the post, but it is not what i'm searching.
I have a variable, FIELD001, witch point to DB20.DBW0.
I want to change the I/O field, ad example i want to change to DB20.DBW2 with a script.
With the script in VBA is ok, but it time consuming, for changing 10 variable it takes about 10 seconds, and the modifiy is written in the definition in the sql structures.
I cannot use this technique. I work in past wirth wonderware or other scada, and they permit to change the I/O address as a normal proprerty, fast and immediately effective.

you can change the tagadress in the configuration datbase in the table
"VARIABLEDESC" by updating the record for the tag.
But this will not have an effect immediately to the datamanager which
manages the tags in runtime,

Hi,

Why do you need to change the tag address?
This is because you try to save tags probably. This approach (changing tag address) first is not possible, and second it is totally againgst WinCC philosophy!
If you want to switch data source - use tag prefix.

The scripts you provide are on VBA, which is applicable in Graphics Editor in Design Mode!

In principle some of configuration changes are possible in RT, someone are not! For example you can change the tag address in RT from WinCC Explorer - this is possible. I do not believe that you can changed in RT, from RT, using ODK function!

I'm trying to change the address of a tag only for comodity, not for use minor tags. I try the prefix on a pdl file and the faceplate, but all the approach are not good for my purpose. In other scada i often use this technique, with great benefit on the semplicity. I must change my usual mode of working.
I can cange with the script the address of the tag, but is very slow and is permanently written in the database with the configuration of the variables.
