WinCC v7.5 & SIMATIC Step 7 (TIA Portal) v15.1

Is there a downloadable SIMATIC Step 7 (TIA Portal) v15.1 ONLY installer that I can get?

As a temporary solution, I am using them in separate virtual machines. It works, but I still wanted to have them both running in the same machine

Hi Everyone,

I hope everything's fine amid the pandemic.

Would like to ask for your opinion on my problem:

PLC program is written in SIMATIC Step 7 (TIA Portal) v15.1

SCADA will be using WinCC v7.5

Apparently, I cannot make them work on the same computer.

Steps I did:

1.) Installed WinCC v7.5 on my existing VM with SIMATIC Step 7 (TIA Portal) v15.1 and WinCC Professional - had to remove WinCC Professional (as expected). Installation went through but I cannot get WinCC working. I tried with internal tags (I am new to WinCC).

2.) I created a fresh VM, installed WinCC v7.5 first. Tested the internal tags (Yeey! was working!). Tried to install SIMATIC Step 7 (TIA Portal) v15.1 using the free download version on Siemens site - SIMATIC STEP 7 and WinCC V15.1 TRIAL Download.

Not surprised that the installation cannot proceed because the installer installs both Step7 & WinCC Pro. As written in the manual, WinCC Pro and WinCC v7.x cannot be on the same machine.

well.. guess i should go back to step 1 and try to remove what's "blocking" WinCC form working.

Good afternoon dugeh,

With all due respect I do not believe that the previous reply bothered to read your question. Unfortunately I do not have good news. I have yet to find a way to install TIA v15/16 AND WinCC v7.x on the same machine. 

I suspect that this may be due to an SQL issue of sharing the same database name.

If I find something then I will update this thread.

hey

you can't install WinCC v7 and TIA on one machine because of SQL instances in both installations.

Use virtual machines or something to get it working correctly.
