carlosdga Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Good morning everyone I`m new here. I`m a Mechanical Engineering student and at the time I`m working on a refrigeration bank for my university (Maracaibo-Venezuela). It`s an old bank that I need to repair and also I have to replace all the analogic indicators with digital instruments. I was checking on the web and I found Logo! and i noticed it could be useful for my case. I have to read continuously the values of Pressure (5 points) and Temperature (5 points) in a PC with a software (I was thinking about Labview but i noticed Logo! offers a Software and I suposse it would be "easier") so the students can do some experiments of heat transfer and other demonstrations related with Thermodynamics. Can you please give me your opinion about this project? I would like to read some advices so I can have another ideas to face the problem. Thanks P.D. carlosdga Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	First of all, thank you guys for taking the time to share your opinion. I thought Logo had some expansion modules to increase the number of analog inputs, am I wrong? This test bank was built in 1992, in 1997 was left out any operation. Now, they want it back on the road.

a1b2c3 Posts: 154 Rating: (17)	You are right, it is possible to increase the analogue inputs with extension modules, but the maximum are 8 analogue inputs. More are with one LOGO! Basic module not possible.

Now it´s clear i got to use 2 LOGO! in the test bank, but wouldn´t it generate some conflicts once I connect them with the PC (Using the Logo Software). I mean, because i´d be using two of them in a single process. Have any of you had some experience with this? I wasalsochecking about the Modules I have to add to read temperatures (AM 2). I need one module for each temperature point? (There are 5 in the whole system) I´m sorry for the bunch of questions I´ve been making, it´s just that I´m kind of lost and you guys have guided me in this topic. Best regards

a1b2c3 Posts: 154 Rating: (17)	If you use two LOGO!s you also have to use two program’s. That mean, you have to program the first LOGO! with you first sensors and in the second LOGO! you have to transfer to program for the rest of your sensors. Every LOGO! works standalone. With the LOGO! AM2 module you can measure 0..10V and 0/4..20mA, if you sensors deliver one of this both, you can use the LOGO! AM2. But If your sensors are PT100 or PT1000 sensors, you have to use the LOGO! AM2 RDT module. Every AM2 (AM2 RDT) module have two analogue inputs.

carlosdga Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Now I see. I guess i could use both programs simultaneously, right? Because the system got to have the capacity to display the values on each point at the same time. Let me see If i get it. If I buy one Logo! I`d be getting 4 analog Inputs, buying two Modules AM 2 RTD, I´d be getting the 8 AI the Logo! allows, 4 AI for testing Pressure (for example, in my case), and 4 for temperature readings. Am i right? If it so, then i´d have to but 3 AM 2 RTD and two Basic Modules, and I think it would be very expensive, doesn`t it? there is another option?

a1b2c3 Posts: 154 Rating: (17)	You are right. If you buy a LOGO! 12/24RC you have 4 analogue inputs (0..10V) and with two AM2 RDT modules you have 4 analogue inputs forPT100 or PT1000. If you need more than these inputs, you need a second LOGO! Basic module and extension modules. But I don’t know the prices of the modules.

I´m evaluating the prices in my country, and I think it would increase the total cost of my project in case I go for the Logo! option. Do you know any other option (Siemens)i could evaluate for my case? Best regards
