If you want to create a communication between 2 devices, you have to think in advance how this communication can be realized. Did you do and ask here in the forum, because you do not know. Then I showed you the two possible ways with examples: 1.) LOGO! as server, S7 as client. Is in my opinion more complicated, since in the S7 with the PUT and GET FBs must be worked. 2.) LOGO! as client, S7 as server. Is in my opinion easier, in the S7 does not have to work with PUT and GET FBs.

DBM68 Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	I have looked at the GET/PUT instructions. They seem manageable... I can't complete their function blocks, because it all ends up at the device detection procedure, which just doesn't show me the LOGO! as an accessible device. Oh, wait...! In the GET block, the red partner field just allowed me to select the unspecified CPU and as I did, it showed up with the name of the LOGO!. I'll see what's what...

DBM68 Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Ok... As I opened the GET Instruction for the first time, the "partner" field allowed me to select the unspecified CPU, which soon auto-filled with the name of the LOGO! When inserting the second GET or the first PUT instruction, this didn't happen and the field remained red without a menu with options. It seems, the communication to the LOGO! has intermittent problems or I was just lucky the first time. Attachment 20190517_LOGO_FORUM_4.jpg (248 Downloads)

How do you program the "GET" and "PUT" instructions in the user program of the SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU in order to transfer more than 160 bytes of data?

DBM68 Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Well. I think that connection was a fluke. I couldn't reproduce it. There is now a change of plans... We'll connect to the LOGO! as a Modbus client. Let's see how that works out... Many thanks for your help, though... Have a great weekend!

DBM68 Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Good morning! I've managed to make the following progress. This is FYI only, to provide some feedback and closure. The reason, that the GET/PUT worked intermittently only, I think, was this: Somewhere in that large project someone had written code around a MB_CLIENT instruction, using the IP address, I wanted to use as well. That was done, after communication with Siemens, because of previous failure to connect the LOGO! to the PROFINET. I wasn't aware of any of this. As I disabled the MB_CLIENT code, I've managed to access the LOGO!. Because the project had progressed elsewhere along the MODBUS code, it was decided to keep the MODBUS version. That pretty much sorts my problem out. I definitely learned something. Thank you very much for your input! Have a great day! Thx. DBM68
