Kindly, we did as below to have password protection on an s7400 plc program. But, when we access the blocks online, it asks for the password one time only, and then we can work all day on the program. Is there some time limit, after which the system asks for the password again ? Or it comes only after a power off on cycle ? How can you activate the protection level with a password in the HW Config for an S7 CPU https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/10154913

Hello, Password protection timeout is not mentioned in manuals and also it is not adjustable. As per my experience, yes you can enter the password once, and then you can work whole the day. Or to be more accurate, "Once per each access". It means whenever you are asked for a password and enter it, you can access the CPU, monitor, download, upload, but once communication with the CPU is not established, you will be asked once again. Communication that is not established may be due to several reasons like closing Simatic Manager, Restart PC, Change settings in Set PG/ PC interface, ....etc. Hope this helps. |

hi, now I got it. first I thougth it depends on the HW. But I had a look into the manuals of Safety Advanced:
But as you see, both SW are acting same. That means, that each client, who is accessing the CPU, has access until it is closed. hope this helps, regards, |
