Tekabi Posts: 462 Rating: (9)	Hello Dear all, I need to know that is it possible to establish a communication for data exchange between STEP7 products ( S7-300, S7-400 & etc ) & Micro controllers ( AVR, ARM & etc )? if yes, how and with which protocols? Is it needed a special software to do this? Best regards Tekabi

RS-232 - use CP340 on Siemens side and UART on Microcontroller. to avoid problems 'lo high byte' you can send values as strings and terminate message with #3. 2. Ethernet - use Ethernet port in PLC (even built-in in case of for example CPU315-2-PN/DP, S7-1200, S7-1500) and either Ethernet port on Your microcontroller or a Ethernet to RS232 converter. We have both implemented in S7-300/400 and Ethernet method in S7-1500. The Ethernet to Serial Port converter: Serial Server ATOP model SE5001. Power Supply: 9 to 30V DC.

Aivars Advanced Member Joined: 1/26/2017 Last visit: 11/21/2025 Posts: 72 Rating: (3)	Low cost solution. Write software UART in PLC and use two high speed outputs for sending some measurement data to RS-485 interface. Works perfect! P.S. the 4 resistors required for voltage divider.
